Abstract

Keywords: Poetry, Type Imagery, and Function ImageryThis study purpose is to describe the type of imagery and function imagery there are in the poems The Solitary Reaper Three Years She Grew dan Tintern Abbey.By William Wordsworth’s. This research is decriptive qualitative research. Thefocus of this study is the type and function imagery in the poems “The SolitaryReaper Three Years She Grew, & Tintern Abbey” by William Wordsworth’s. Thisstudy uses an expressive approach focuses on the expression of feelings or thewriter’s tempraments (abrams, 1981: 189). The results of this study obtained twofindings, the first type of imagery used in the poem is, Visual Imagery, AuditoryImagery, Tactile Imagery, Olfactory Imagery, Gustatory Imagery, KinaestheticImagery. The second is function imagery, there are three kinds in the poem is, 1.Functions Imaji, 2. Functions Aesthetic, 3. Functions Suggestive. Becauseimagery is a very effective way to evoke real life experiences and since it can beused by poets to convey emotions and suggest ideas, the poet generally will lookfor words that match the wishes of abstract or non-image words (1973).
