Abstract
The purpose of this study is to analyze the five types of illocutionary acts which occured in the slogan of selected beverage advertisement on television. The language used in advertisement is different with the language used in daily life. In this thesis, the researcher applies Yule’s theory about Speech act, and focuses in the illocutionaty acts. The writer collects ten of baverage advertisement slogans from television. There are Sprite, Teh Pucuk, Teh Javana, Teh Rio, Isoplus, Vit Levite, Minute Maid, Fayrouz, Q Guava, and Floridina. The finding of the analysis is representative and directive concluding that the type which is most used in advertisements is representative type, because in the beverage advertisement slogans, the speaker almost always uses claiming, telling the truth of the product.
