Abstract

As the development of era and the technology, technology has increased the number of people who use social media such as chatting, BBM, facebook, twitter, instagram, etc. The use of slang in BBM Group FBS 2012 is already very popular. The majority of members using slang in a lot of reasons, for example, just for fun or something different, to show that some particular group, following the trend and increase knowledge about several different languages etc. And Slang believed to have originated from a term used by a certain exclusive group. BBM group is the way some people have the habit or work together to provide the information or the other, without sending message to each people one by one. This study is conducted to identify the type of slang of chat members in BBM Group FBS 2012 and to analyze how the meaning of the slang in BBM Group FBS 2012. The study uses the theory of Morphological Approach from Elisa Mattiello to do the analysis. The study uses descriptive qualitative method. The data that are used in this research are the conversation among members in BBM Group FBS 2012 containing slang. The study collects the data from screenshot chat in BBM Group FBS 2012, chat from January 2016 to May 2016 containing slang. The analysis of data uses Elisa Mattiello’s theory of Slang. After that, the data is interpreted using contextual explanation.
