A Study on Abbreviations Found at Playstation2 Game Application “PES 2016”

This study is conducted to analyze the abbreviations which are found at playstation2 game application “PES 2016”. This study is also to find out the types of abbreviated words found at Playstation2 game application “PES 2016”. The writer chooses playstation2 game application “PES 2016” because it was one of the favorites game that has many lovers like at playing it, the writer also has many friends like playing this game. The research approach which used by the writer in this thesis is descriptive qualitative since it deals with words to analyze them , The writer also wants to find out the numbers of abbreviations in playstation2 game application “PES 2016”. After the writer explains the theoritical framework, he tabulates the data of abbreviations, then he analyzes the data through the related theories that is used by the writer and makes it understandable. As the objective of this study, the writer tends to analizes the types of abbreviations using theory from Ingo Plag (2003). he clasifies them into three types. First is based of the form of shortening. It includes the abbreviations are composed of initial letters and abbreviations that incorporate of initial and non initial letters. second type is based on the spelling. It includes of abbreviations spelled in capital letters, lower case letters, and both of capital and lower case letters. the last is abbreviations based on their pronunciation. It includes of abbreviations that pronounced as initialism, accronym, and aso can be pronounced both as initialism and accronym.
